Glossy Cardstocks
Glossy cardstocks are shiny in appearance and have a somewhat NON-ABSORBENT surface. Dye inks will air dry on it, though pigment inks will not. If you use pigment inks on glossy cardstock, you’ll need to heat emboss them to seal them in. The weight of glossy cardstock is indicated in “points” (i.e. pt). The higher the number of points, the heavier the cardstock. The average weight of the most commonly used glossy is about 10 - 12 pt.
Products which work well on glossy cardstocks are, but not limited to: dye inks, Posh Inkabilities, dye based and permanent markers, pigment ink when embossed, Brilliance inks (air dried).
Techniques which work well on glossy are, but not limited to: brayering, stippling, sponging, heat embossing, polished stone backgrounds, Marvy Metallic backgrounds, and layering.
